Cedar City Utah Information
Where's Cedar City?
Cedar City is located in the heart of South Western Utah just 2.5 hours north of Las Vegas, Nevada and 3.5 hours south of Salt Lake City, Utah. Cedar City has a population of about 30,000 with over 6,000 college students at Southern Utah University. Cedar City is located near world class skiing at Brain Head and within about an hour from Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park. Cedar Breaks National Monument is very scenic and located just east of Cedar City surrounded by Utah's Dixie National Forest.
Who's in Cedar City?
Cedar City is primarily inhabited by families and college students. There is a Mormon church in nearly every neighborhood near the city. The city's population is approximately 90% white. Cedar City has two high schools, Cedar City High at the southern end of town and Canyon View High toward the northern end of town each of which have an enrollment of about 1,000 students.
Events in Cedar City
Cedar City has grown from a farming community to a diverse and populous city and is home to a number of annual events including the Utah Shakespearean Festival and the Utah Summer Games.
Shopping in Cedar City
Cedar City is home to a few large retail stores including Walmart, Home Depot, and Albertsons. If you can't find it in Cedar City, you can head south to St. George, about an hours drive away, which has a surplus of retail shopping possibilities.
